The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters is an inner eastern metropolitan Council, nestled on the outskirts of the CBD. The area enjoys a reputation as one of Adelaide’s most desirable places to live, work, study and visit. From a planning and development perspective, the city has a rich heritage fabric which is balanced with medium and high-density residential growth and vibrant commercial, retail and light industrial precincts. There is high demand for residential infill and commercial development, together with strong demand and vibrancy along some of the City’s premier retail strips.
An exciting opportunity has presented itself for an Administration Officer to join our Development Assessment Unit and contribute towards shaping our City, through supporting and assisting our Development Assessment Team.
The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Development & Regulatory Services, and working closely with the Authorised Officers, the Administration Officer is primarily responsible and accountable for the provision of a range of confidential secretarial and also administrative support services to the Development Assessment Team and from time-to-time to other staff and business units with the Urban Planning & Environment Department and to assist in the administration of the Council’s statutory responsibilities under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.
Other responsibilities include undertaking the administrative elements associated with the public notification of Development Applications, conducting Section 7 property searches, liaising with customers regarding the processing of Development Applications and enforcement matters and providing high level administrative support for other business units with the urban Planning & Environment Department.

- Demonstrated high level administration and executive assistance experience in a fast paced and multidisciplinary team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with staff, the public and Government Agencies both verbally and in writing.
- Well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills and ability to work well within a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated strong work ethic and integrity, including the ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion and diplomacy.
