What You Will Get to Do:
In this senior role, you will lead and develop a high-performing Functional QA team by driving strategy, mentoring staff, and embedding scalable testing practices. Oversee resource planning, recruitment, and skill development, while ensuring alignment with delivery goals, automation uplift, and compliance standards across programs.
As a Functional QA Capability manager, you will take on a key role in planning, executing, and reporting on testing activities, while also managing defects and engaging with stakeholders.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Coaching and developing functional testing staff and enabling them to deliver high quality testing solutions. Including performance reviews, career development, and day-to-day support.
- Foster a high-performing, inclusive team culture, encouraging collaboration and accountability.
- Develop and execute QA strategies that guide functional testers in delivering high-quality, scalable testing solutions. Provide clear direction on testing standards, frameworks, and best practices
- Actively participate in a program or delivery stream, contributing QA leadership and hands-on support.
- Support test planning, risk assessment, and quality gates for program-level milestones
- Identify skill gaps and training needs and create structured development plans.
- Encourage cross-skilling in automation and agile QA practices. Lead the uplift and embedding of automation, test frameworks and disciplines
- Managing resource allocations within the team including recruiting.
- Collaborate with delivery leads and product owners to align QA activities with program goals and release timelines.
- Ensure functional testing practices meet regulatory, security, and compliance requirements.
What You Will Bring:
We are seeking an experienced Principal QA with solid backgrounds in both manual and automated testing.
With a proven track record of leading complex testing projects, you will also:
- Have a strong understanding of various Software Development methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid, along with DevOps practices.
- Proven experience in leading QA teams and managing test automation projects.
- Be proficient in tools such as JIRA, Xray, TOSCA, Postman, Selenium, Playwright and SQL.
- Demonstrate advanced communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports for senior stakeholders and drive solutions for projects.
- Have experience in the superannuation industry or a similar financial sector to minimize the learning curve and quickly contribute to the team.
