**About the Position**

We have an exciting opportunity for an Economic and Tourism Development Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Manager City Future, you will be responsible for leading initiatives across the City that will attract investment, support new jobs and attract more visitors to the City.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Advocate for the interests and needs of the City and the community to other levels of government.
- Identify and pursue grant and funding opportunities to support economic and tourism development initiatives.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to promote and enhance the economic and tourism development of the City.
- Provide advice and support to Council and senior management on economic and tourism development issues.
- Prepare submissions, proposals, and representations to other levels of government.
- Deliver projects and initiatives that support investment attraction, business growth, and visitor attraction.
- Stay informed of current and emerging trends, issues, and opportunities in economic and tourism development.
- Provide commercial perspectives and specialist advice to inform Council decision-making.
- Provide knowledge sharing within the organisation on matters relevant to the role.
- Conduct detailed analysis of major problems, assess opportunities, and provide solutions to economic and tourism development issues.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, rules, regulations, and laws.
- Form positive, collaborative, and service-oriented relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Help build and foster effective partnership approaches with key stakeholders and government agencies.

**About You**
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Business Development, Tourism, Marketing or equivalent (Essential).
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent public relations skills and ability to negotiate and liaise with all levels of government, businesses, the community, and key project stakeholders.
- Highly developed report and plan writing skills.
- Demonstrated financial management skills related to feasibility studies, business cases, and projects.
- High level of analytical and strategic thinking skills and use of innovation skills.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, economic, tourism, property, and infrastructure development practices.
- Substantial experience in project management of strategic initiatives in economic development, business support, and tourism development.
- Experience within a Local Government environment.

This permanent full-time position attracts a salary range of $140,090.00 gross per annum plus superannuation.
