**About the role**

To increase the impact of science at the Australian Museum by managing, developing and strategically planning for collection-based infrastructure at the Australian Museum and engaging diverse audiences in the broader fields of science as part of AMRI.

**About you**

We have a current vacancy for an experienced Collection Manager to lead in the management of the Australian Museum’s **Arachnology** collection.

We are also seeking to establish a **Talent Pool** for future opportunities in Collection Management, across the following collections:

- Mineralogy
- Palaeontology
- Entomology
- Ichthyology
- Malacology
- Marine Invertebrates
- Herpetology
- Ornithology
- Mammalogy

You will have:

- A thorough understanding of the key challenges facing natural history collections, such as curation, preservation and conservation, digitisation and access
- A keen interest in supporting collections-based research
- Experience in relevant field techniques, either directly or supporting

**Essential Requirements**:

- Tertiary qualifications in zoological sciences, preferably specialising in Arachnology (or another collection for the Talent Pool).

**Knowledge & Experience**
- Experience in curation and management of Arachnology collections (or another collection for the Talent Pool) including databasing.
- Current knowledge and working experience to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in this Role Description
