**About the role**

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Australian Museum and to support its impact on science. The primary purpose of this role is to provide technical assistance and expertise to the Australian Centre for Wildlife Genomics (ACWG) laboratory in maintaining the integrity of the Australian Museum’s Frozen Tissue Collection and carrying out necessary collection-based activities. This role is also involved in continuation of laboratory accreditation as an ISO17025 accredited facility and an Approved Arrangement site - providing secure storage and access to biological samples held under biosecurity. Overall, this role enables the maintenance and growth of the Frozen Tissue Collection for genetics-based research projects.

**About you**

**Essential Requirements**:

- A degree in Science (Biological Sciences) or other relevant qualification.

**Knowledge & Experience**
- A minimum 5 years' work experience in wildlife biology and ecology across a range of taxonomic groups, including the ability to appropriately evaluate and interpret data associated with specimens.
- Knowledge of legislation, regulations, and Standards relevant to the Australian Museum (particularly those regarding quarantine/biosecurity, dangerous goods, and wildlife compliance),
- Proficiency in databasing and collections-based software, particularly Excel, Access, and EMu (or similar), and the ability to work with large and complex worksheets.
- An understanding of NATA accreditation and knowledge of standard operating procedures to assist with training of staff and interns in these procedures.
- Adequate knowledge and experience to deliver the Key Accountabilities and perform to the Focus Capabilities outlined in this Role Description.
