The Department

This role resides in the Corporate Strategy division, which ensure that our business is aligned on our role and priorities across the organisation through our strategy, for the benefit of all Australians.

The Role

Reporting to the Director Corporate Strategy, this role is responsible for the evaluation, design and delivery of SBS’ overall corporate strategy. The Head, Corporate Strategy Design and Delivery leads all internal activities relating to corporate planning and annual strategic planning as well as the management of key strategic projects that enable change or innovation across SBS.

As focal point for collaboration and thought leadership, this role works across SBS to shape the future of the business through engaging SBS Executives, our Leadership Group and cross functional teams and on occasion external stakeholders.

As the Head of Corporate Strategy at SBS, you will be responsible for shaping the long-term strategic direction of the organisation in an evolving media landscape. You will lead high-impact initiatives, leveraging data-driven insights, financial modelling, and industry analysis to support executive decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

- Develop and drive SBS’s corporate strategy, ensuring alignment with its Charter and Purpose audience needs, and organisational goals.
- Lead strategic planning processes, including industry benchmarking, competitive analysis, and forecasting to identify opportunities for audience and revenue growth.
- Provide thought leadership, ensuring SBS remains competitive in a rapidly evolving media environment.
- Build and maintain financial and operational models to support strategic decision-making.
- Partner with the SBS Executive, Leadership Team and Board to define and communicate strategic priorities.
- Influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, where required to ensure that SBS continues to engage as an essential service and reflects a contemporary Australia.
- Monitor and assess shifts in audience consumption habits, emerging technologies, and competitive trends in the media sector.
- Evaluate new revenue opportunities, digital innovations, and content distribution models.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings:

- Exceptional analytical capabilities, commercial acumen and attention-to-detail.
- Strong expertise in planning and execution
- Proven success in leading strategic initiatives at the executive level.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience with storytelling in presentations, pitches, or marketing materials that drives audience engagement and decision-making.
- Ability to provide strategic advice on vision, outcomes and priorities.
- Excellent leadership capabilities to lead internal and external teams
- Experience in media industry is desirable
