The Project - Sydney Metro City South West (SMCSW)

The SMCSW is a new 30-kilometre metro line extending the tracks from the southern end of Sydney Metro North West at Chatswood, under Sydney Harbour through new CBD Stations and upgraded stations along the South West corridor to Bankstown.

MTR have been awarded the Operations, Trains & Systems package in Dec 2019 and commenced delivery of key rail systems & trains and now seeking for engineers to be part of this project.

**Description**:
Responsibilities of the position

Build effective business relationships with relevant stakeholders
Implement necessary systems of SafeWorking to protect people, plant, equipment, process and rolling stock
Provide day to day advice on rail safety / SafeWorking through effective day-to-day strategy and interface communication for Hi-Rail vehicles and train testing
Liaise with key stakeholders to provide advice and guidance relating to rail safety initiatives and activities
Providing advice and support regarding rail safety / SafeWorking and worksite protection issues to ensure a safe environment for employees and to protect rail construction and operations related risks on a rail network,
Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of rail safety frameworks, policies, and standards

**Skills and Experiences**:
Experience

High level of skill in rail safety, SafeWorking and worksite protection and demonstrated understanding of the both the RSNL and applicable safe working rules and procedures
Extensive knowledge of rail safety standards and Network rules for the respective network where work is being performed
High level of influencing, interpersonal, consultation, relationship building and negotiation skills that build and sustain productive relationships and partnerships
Substantial knowledge and understanding of heavy industry risk management standards, procedures and practices

Qualifications & Training

Certificate IV in WHS and / or Rail Safety Management
Incident Causal Analysis Method or equivalent Statement of Attainment
Lead Systems Auditor Statement of Attainment
TfNSW - Safety Professional role
Drivers Licence
SafeWorking and Worksite Protection, Minimum PO2 (desirable)
Authorized tester for drug and alcohol (desirable)
Certificate III or IV in Rail Infrastructure Construction and Maintenance (desirable)

**Skills**:
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Excellent verbal and written communication
Organised and able to meet deadlines
Able to present Toolbox and Pre starts
Ability to use professional independent judgement and work autonomously on complex and high-risk requests, supported by demonstrated experience in rail safety and SafeWorking site risk management
