**Position Information**:
James Erskine Public School is located in Metropolitan South and West within the western suburbs. The school has an enrolment of 508 students. 33% of our students have a language background other than English. 6% of our students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The school culture is strongly focused on learning and is committed to the pursuit of excellence. James Erskine Public School engages in strong partnerships between parents, students and the community. The school collaborates with our community of schools, providing our students with a range of leadership opportunities and experiences where they can explore and pursue their interests and talents. We are recognised for our strong history of sporting achievements.
We have a strong focus on embedding explicit systems to drive school-wide improvements in teaching practice and student results. We collaboratively design teaching and learning programs that embed and implement evidence-based strategies and explicit teaching methods. There is a strong focus on identifying data driven practices to identify student achievements and progress. Professional learning opportunities are consistently undertaken to build teacher capacity to analyse, interpret and extrapolate data and use this to inform collaborative planning, identify interventions and modify teaching practice.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach Infants and/or Primary with the ability to lead and support the development of a school culture that is focused on educational excellence.
Highly visible and collaborative leader, who promotes a culture of belonging and high expectations to strengthen positive partnerships within the school community.
Demonstrated capacity to create an evidence-informed collaborative learning culture, with proven ability to enrich student outcomes whilst leading, mentoring, and inspiring others.
Demonstrated expertise and ability to lead and manage whole school programs and initiatives while maintaining exemplary classroom practice.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning- 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies**Conditions**:
