**Key Relationships**
The Head of Wellbeing reports to the Head of Senior School and liaises
with the Head of Preparatory School, Director of Learning, Director of
Teaching, and the HR Manager. This position works closely with the
House Heads, School Psychologists, Chaplain and the wider wellbeing
team. All staff are ultimately responsible to the Principal.
**_Position Objective: _**
The Head of Wellbeing is responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the Wellbeing Framework
and Wellbeing Program at Westminster School to support the educational and personal development of
individuals and groups of students. The role requires an energetic, innovative, and experienced educator to
lead the Wellbeing Curriculum for the students of Westminster. They will develop and maintain an engaging,
research and outcomes-based program that reflects the needs of students. The Head of Wellbeing works
closely with School leadership to coordinate and oversee responses to specific wellbeing needs of individual
students and staff at Westminster.
**_Key Responsibilities: _**
**1. As a member of the broader School leadership group**:
- Contribute to developing and achieving strategic School improvement priorities.
- Ensure that Wellbeing actions support the overall strategic direction of the School.
- Contribute to the development of School policies, strategic plans, values and organisational
structures that relate to or have an impact on wellbeing.
- Provide advice to relevant SLT members on student and staff wellbeing issues.
**2. Manage the holistic Wellbeing Program at Westminster School**:
- Develop and continuously improve a Wellbeing Framework that describes and guides the processes
by which staff and student wellbeing is fostered and supported at Westminster School.
- Promote initiatives to improve wellbeing outcomes based on current research and policies.
- Maintain an overview of all School activities (R-12)that are conducted under the Wellbeing umbrella,
or which otherwise contribute to staff or student wellbeing.
- Lead a cross-School group to monitor wellbeing and deliver improvement.
- Coordinate/implement, monitor, evaluate and continuously improve specific elements of the Wellbeing
Program as agreed, including national or state initiatives implemented at Westminster.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of structured and sequential social and emotional
learning across all years in the curriculum.
- Prepare budget submissions and manage budget allocations for the Wellbeing program.
- Coordinate the teaching of a Pastoral care program which focuses on developing social and emotional
skills with evidence-based practices related to personal safety, resilience, and protective behaviours.
- Oversee the specialised Year 7 and Year 8 Wellbeing program in conjunction with the Head of Year level
to meet the specific needs of these students.
- Ensure a scope and sequence caters for all year levels and meets current educational and wellbeing
needs.
**3. Build School awareness and capability in the area of Wellbeing**
- Maintain awareness of National and State initiatives and regulations linked to health, wellbeing, and
safety in schools (eg: Keep Safe: Child Protection Curriculum).
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to embed practices that actively support student wellbeing.
- Build and maintain links to learn from practices in other schools that foster and enhance wellbeing.
- Identify and provide access to appropriate wellbeing resources for students and staff.
- Advocate for and empower students, parents/carers and staff so their voices are heard in relation to
Wellbeing matters.
- Promote and foster self-efficacy, self-care and distributed leadership to improve wellbeing, eg. creating
forums for students, parents/carers, staff and the school community to raise, discuss and promote
solutions to wellbeing issues within the school community.
