An APS 6 analyst or team leader in Intelligence and Insights (I&I) Branch is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) work. You are accountable to ensure you have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

You are expected to coach or lead a team to set and achieve work priorities. You will need to identify, anticipate and respond to AGO’s stakeholders’ requirements to achieve Defence outcomes.

As an APS 6 analyst or team lead at AGO you will perform the following tasks to achieve outcomes:

- Lead and conduct complex imagery and GEOINT analysis in support of national and Defence interests as outlined in the National Defence Strategy.
- Coordinate the delivery of analytical products that comply with standard procedures and legislative requirements.
- Provide advice on complex GEOINT analysis and make recommendations on the use of appropriate tradecraft.
- Build and sustain effective relationships with a wide range of national and international stakeholders.
- Facilitate direction for the team and be accountable for achieving accurate completion of work within timeframes.
- Share own expertise and mentor others.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.
