Situated just 25 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, the Mount Barker District Council is one of Australia’s fastest growing regions. Over 200 employees serve a diverse and rapidly growing community with a population today of 41,000 and projected to reach 70,000 over the next 30 years. Growth in employee resources is anticipated to meet ongoing increased community needs.

This pivotal role reports to the Executive Manager to the CEO, with key responsibilities including:

- developing and implementing an HR framework to ensure that workforce planning, people development, performance management, employee relations and HR systems and policies are contemporary and effective;
- developing strategies and programs that ensure a positive work, health and safety culture and practice for the benefit of employees and Council;
- championing organisational culture programs and people development within a business excellence framework;
- providing high level HR advice and support to the leadership team;
- developing and implementing a change management framework and organisational development program;
- managing, mentoring, developing, motivating and leading the People & Culture team.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified contemporary HR practitioners experienced in leading and developing the people and culture for a diverse organisation. A strong and pragmatic outcomes focus, sound strategic thinking capabilities, effective change management skills and outstanding leadership and stakeholder relationship management abilities will also be required. Local government experience is not a requirement.
