**Position Summary**

Oversees and participates in Licensed Dispensing Opticians duties as needed, including fitting and adjusting eyeglasses and dispensing contacts. Assists members while providing a high level of member service.

**Job Duties/Essential Functions**
- Develops, coaches, counsels, and directs Optical personnel
- Monitors employee performance and provides proactive feedback to promote team work and accountability
- Participates in the employment process by making recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination
- Responds to employee concerns using problem solving skills, tact, and discretion in accordance with the Costco Employee Agreement and other applicable regulations
- Participates in Optical employee evaluations
- Approves timecards and other reports
- Implements and upholds proper Optical and general safety procedures/standards and monitors department cleanliness
- Coordinates Optical schedule
- Reviews Optical sales, benchmarks, expense, and productivity figures
- Monitors department profit and loss and adjusts plans as necessary
- Oversees and participates in Licensed Dispensing Optician duties as needed, including fitting and adjusting eyeglasses and dispensing contacts
- Assists with counter duties and merchandising as necessary
- Approves and submits orders for equipment, merchandise, and supplies
- Conducts bi-annual inventories of merchandise
- Coordinates proper maintenance and repair for machinery and equipment
- Oversees apprentices as required for certification qualification
- Exercises discretion and confidentiality with all employee and patient information
- Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees, and suppliers.

Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery_**
- Computer, phone, copier, cash register, cardboard baler, trash compactor, hand held scanner, pupilometer, lensometer, frame warmer, small pliers and screwdriver.

Education/Training: High School Certificate or higher

Training or apprenticeship (as required by state)

Licenses/Certifications: Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing (or equivalent experience)

State Licencing as Dispensing Optician or National Certification by state specific requirements

Experience/Skills: Managerial or supervisory experience

Previous optical experience

Food service experience or comparable experience

Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and AS400

Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal and organisation skills

Basic math skills

**Other specific requirements**

Satisfactory Criminal Record Check

Full COVID-19 vaccination or medical contraindications certificate
- **If successful, you will be required to undertake role & department specific training within specified timeframes
