**The opportunity we have available**

The Assistant Director supports the Director, DSU and the division to deliver executive support and manage divisional business and corporate related activities. These activities include coordination of: corporate coordination requests, governance, administered budget and reporting, business planning, recruitment, performance and annual reporting, and senate estimates preparation, briefing and questions on notice.

The Assistant Director engages extensively with the corporate areas of the department, and provides quality assurance and ensures consistency across the division on its corporate/financial obligations.

As part of the DSU you will have the opportunity to have direct exposure to Senior Executives and the breadth of departmental programs, policy and regulation. You will gain valuable experience in enabling services to further enhance your career and the opportunity to use your governance, human resource, financial and/or coordination expertise to support the team to deliver high quality services to the division.

You will establish and embed processes, practices and tools to operationalise corporate policies and procedures in the division. You will assist the Director in leading a small team and build a service focused culture to meet the needs to the Senior Executive and division.

To succeed in this role, experience in, or the ability to quickly learn, government corporate/financial processes to oversee the business of the division, including administered and departmental budgets. While the focus of your work is within the division, you will have an outward view, and establish networks across divisions and corporate areas.

**Who are we looking for?**

We are looking for emerging leaders with a blend of strategic facilitation, co-ordination and administration skills. Experience in finance, human resources, executive or ministerial support and/or enabling services would be highly regarded, as well as the ability to contribute to embedding a service focused culture in to support the division to deliver on its priorities.
