Communications and connectivity are vital enablers of a modern economy and society. The Communications Services and Consumer Division (the Division) develops policies and delivers programs so all Australians have access to reliable communications and postal services.
The Division provides advice to government on digital connectivity under various communications programs, including communications connectivity for regional, rural and remote Australians. We provide advice on Australia Post, work with telecommunication companies to ensure they keep investing in new telecommunications connectivity, promote Australia’s communications interests on the international stage, oversee policies and programs to promote digital inclusion and consumer protections, as well as support a range of other interesting and important functions.
This exciting career opportunity is to fill an existing position as the EL1 Divisional Co-ordinator. The position sits in the Office of the FAS CSC Division, working to the Director / FAS Executive Officer, supervising a small team and working alongside the Executive Assistants and across the Division to support the Executives and the Division in delivering its priorities and activities. The Divisional Co-ordinator is the Division’s central point of contact, leading core business processes, managing corporate and cross-government engagement and reporting on Divisional issues.
This recruitment process may also be used to establish a merit list at the Executive Level 1 classification for future opportunities in the Division.
**What will you do?**:
The position covers a dynamic and diverse array of tasks ensuring efficient and effective business operations as well as the long-term opportunity to improve processes and systems. Tasks include:
- Working across the Division and Department to manage and coordinate information and input requests and providing responses back to appropriate levels and areas. Key activities include; business planning and reporting, funding and budgets; human resource functions; governance; and, property and accommodation
- Developing and maintaining relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve agreed outcomes and the timely coordination of key cross-organisational processes, including Senate Estimates, Back Pocket Briefs, Question on Notice and Question Time Briefs
- Managing the distribution of ministerial correspondence and parliamentary documents using the Parliamentary Document Management System (PDMS) and the CabNet system to the relevant areas and liaise with various stakeholders for the timely submission of the documents to the requesting areas
- Managing and coordinating communications across the Division including drafting the Divisional Newsletter
- Managing and maintaining records for the Divisional Coordination
- Managing and supervising up to two staff.
You will also provide high level support and advice to the Executive Officer and FAS with a focus on divisional activities. Tasks include:
- Assisting with high priority and sensitive issues and coordinating briefings and other materials for the EO and FAS
- Supporting capability development in the Division through workforce development and strategies on recruitment, retention and training; shaping the development of initiatives to promote the wellbeing of staff, with a focus on the culture of the Division
- Developing the ongoing implementation of the Division’s strategy and planning
- Working on key projects as directed to provide research, analysis and advice on corporate issues relating to the operation of the Division
- Attending meetings to discuss current issues and projects, information requests, strategies to coordinate timely responses requests across the Division and advocate for the Division and its needs in various corporate forums.
