**Role Summary**:
The **General Counsel & Company Secretary** role is an exciting and unique opportunity to join our Trading & Governance team based at our Perth CBD office and to lead the delivery of legal and company secretarial advice and support to the board, senior management, and the organisation as a whole. Reporting to the Executive General Manager Trading & Governance, you will be an integral member of the senior leadership team of Synergy and involved in informing and supporting key strategic matters.

**Key responsibilities of the role include**:

- Be an integral member of Synergy’s leadership team
- Lead the legal team to ensure the provision of high quality, practical, timely and effective legal advice including the correct identification of legal risks across a broad range of matters
- Lead and be accountable for key strategic and complex legal and regulatory matters
- Provide effective and high-quality governance advice and support to Synergy’s chair, board, board committees and executive leadership team to enhance and maintain best practice corporate governance
- Fulfil the responsibilities set out for the company secretary in Synergy’s board charter

**What you’ll bring**:

- Must be admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Western Australia and hold a current practicing certificate
- Significant experience (15+ years) including in leading strategic and complex legal matters
- Senior leadership role within a large or complex organisation
- Deep understanding of all aspects of company secretariat and legal services
- Excellent leadership and influencing skills
- Pragmatism and commercial acumen
