As one of Australia’s leading importers and distributors of specialist tools and equipment, we are looking for an experienced Purchasing Officer based in our Seven Hills offices. Operating for 40 years we have built a reputation for delivering high quality equipment with impeccable service.

The position of Purchasing Officer will report through to the General Manager and will be tasked with ensuring purchasing and logistics functions are executed precisely. Having previous experience in Purchasing you will be confident dealing with our Australian based and offshore suppliers and have a keen eye for detail.

To be considered for the position you will possess the following skills and experience:

- Proven experience as a Purchasing / Procurement Officer within an organisation that stocks a large range of products
- Strong negotiation, communication and relationship building skills are paramount
- High attention to detail, ability to multi task and strong analytical skills
- Experience within industrial, manufacturing or supply chain environments will be advantageous
- Previous experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)

**Responsibilities**
- Maintaining strong relationships with both global and domestic vendors and maintain open lines of communication
- Placing orders
- Negotiating contract terms of agreement and pricing
- Obtaining pricing and lead time
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery
- Review quality of purchased products
- Follow up on credit notes for goods returned
- Research potential vendors
- Liaising with freight companies both domestic and international
- Ensuring min/max stock levels are maintained
- Maintaining supplier price lists and updating the system with new pricing when required
- Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information and invoices
- Reducing excess stock levels
- Prepare reports on purchases, including cost analysis
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure correct deliveries and products are received

Ultimately, you will create and maintain good relationships with key suppliers to ensure merchandise is high quality and delivered on time.

Listed above are the main responsibilities of the role, however, you will be required to assist in other areas and help other members of staff from time to time.
