**Who are we?**:
We’re here to help people live well and create a better and more sustainable future. We support healthy and liveable communities by delivering water, sewerage and recycled water services to 1.77 million people who rely on us every day and every night. At South East Water, we innovate with purpose and act with care to deliver healthy water for life. Fresh thinking and collaboration are at the heart of our organisation. We are constantly learning, embracing the challenges of today and excited by the opportunities that tomorrow will bring.
**The role**:
At South East Water we know the data is clear - our climate is changing, and this is already impacting our business and the communities we serve. This means it is crucial for us to continue adapting to climate change and respond proactively in an uncertain environment.
As the Environmental Project Officer, you will be in the centre of how we are responding to this change, playing a key role in in supporting environmental priorities, reporting and initiatives focussing on climate adaptation and biodiversity.
Access to climate modelling will allow you to maintain data on climate threats and support the business to plan for a challenging future by delivering more climate resilient assets. You will also have the opportunity to proactively engage across the business to identify, support and implement environmental improvement processes.
The ecologist in you will particularly enjoy the chance to help define a framework to manage and identify enhancements for biodiversity.
This is a space with some exciting projects emerging and with mentoring from senior team members, stakeholder engagement and contract development, there is a lot of potential for future growth opportunities.
**Who are you?**:
With a passion for environment and commitment to change you will also bring:
- A degree in the field of environmental engineering, environmental science, policy or another relevant field with 5 years of technical/scientific experience.
- Good communication and engagement skills, particularly relating to communicating complex technical information as simply and clearly as possible to a variety of audiences. Ability to influence outcomes through verbal communications and negotiation is required, including the ability to listen and respond appropriately.
- Intermediate computer literacy required. Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI skills an advantage.
- Solid analytical skills and an ability to investigate and interpret environmental data.
- Ability to work autonomously and also know when to brief or elevate issues to the Environment Manager.
**What's in it for you?**:
- A commitment to work-life balance with truly flexible working arrangements, including hybrid working and leave purchasing.
- 14 weeks paid parental leave for all parents and paid super on unpaid parental leave
- A range of benefits, including free on-site parking and cultural leave.
- A great culture working in collaborative teams with strong work ethics.
- Career focused learning and development opportunities.
- The opportunity to be part of an organisation committed to environmental initiatives.
- Enjoy modern office facilities with panoramic beachfront views.
- A competitive salary starting from $95,733 + super
**We're for everyone**:
We do meaningful work, but how we do it is just as important. We’re here to help people live well, protect the environment, and keep healthy water and resources accessible and affordable for all. We know to make a positive difference we need to support our people to be their very best. Flexibility and innovation are at the heart of how we work. But it’s our people’s collective ambition, authenticity and differences that bring our culture to life.
Our people are as diverse as the communities we serve. Everyone brings a unique voice and a refreshing perspective that keeps us innovating. It makes us better learners, thinkers and collaborators, helping create better outcomes for our customers. Even though we’re all different, we still share a common goal to deliver healthy water for life.
