Joint Colleges Training Services Pty Ltd (JCTS) is a joint venture of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (the RACGP). JCTS will enable RACGP and ACRRM to deliver shared GP training activities for the Colleges’ respective fellowship training programs and includes the development and delivery of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health strategic plans, cultural education and cultural mentorship, the provision of registrar housing in some remote Northern Territory and communities and other potential areas of collaboration.
Working closely with the Board, as General Manager you will be primarily responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing review of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Training Strategic Plans, in collaboration with key stakeholders. You will identify opportunities to collaborate with the College training teams and establish key consultation networks to promote and grow the services and support JCTS provides to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. You will lead a national team of Program Support staff and drive a highly engaged, culturally informed and collaborative team. In addition, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day business operations of JCTS, including managing costs against budgets and presenting to the Board and other key stakeholders.
To be considered for this role, you will be a highly regarded leader with experience across the health sector. Experience in general practice training would be desirable. You will have experience working with and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health care and a track record of establishing respectful relationships within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander General Practice community. Additionally, you will understand the significance of cultural safety in health care and delivery of services, along with working in partnership with key stakeholders. You will be known for your ability to lead organisations through significant change and have a demonstrated track record for successful collaboration.
Additionally, you will be known for your ability to advocate and build strong stakeholder relationships both internally and externally, with the Board, government and other senior stakeholders. As a strong communicator with an approachable and culturally informed style, you will have the ability to navigate through ambiguity and bring stakeholders along the journey. Post graduate qualifications in Business Management, Master of Business Administration, or Masters of Aboriginal Health would be considered desirable.
To perform this role, it is essential that the person is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 8 of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth) and equivalent provision of State legislation applies to this position.
