A newly created Actuarial role that sits in the finance team, this is a great opportunity to drive an efficient and effective actuarial reporting function for this dynamic and growing insurance company based in Brisbane.

The overall objective will be to take responsibility for actuarial claims reserving and analysis, capital modelling, planning, stress and scenario testing. Currently supported by an analyst, it is anticipated that over time that the team reporting to the role will grow. The broader team has a great culture, with a high level of engagement and trust, and many of the team having been with the organisation for a long time.

Some of the activities that will fall under the Actuarial Manager are:

- Co-ordinating and performing the calculation of the monthly claims reserving process and year-end actuarial reporting process working closely with the external actuary (includes FCR)
- Recommending changes to actuarial assumptions and reserving process
- Monitoring trends, modelling, reporting and providing key insights to the business
- Quality control of the claims financial data
- Development of stress and scenario testing models
- Actively assess, identify and implement improvements to financial governance, processes and controls

The scope and future development of the role calls for:

- A Fellow or Associate (who intends to complete Fellowship) of the Actuaries Institute of Australia (or equivalent)
- 5-8 years experience in a general insurance actuarial team with exposure to financial reporting and valuations
- Extensive experience with developing and building financial models
- Team leadership experience and desire to further develop management skills
- Excellent communication skills with a wide variety of stakeholders
