The Role
This role will see you responsible for the design and development for the footwear product range, in line with brand direction and company timetable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and development of the footwear product range from concept through to final proto.
- Develop a product range which is unique in the market, keeping with the brand hand-writing, and delivered to the option plan, price points and margin targets.
- Identify emerging trends, relevant to the customers needs, in time to influence development.
- Conceptualise and sketch the range, build storyboards, complete spec packages including technical specs and construction details.
- Work with the Production Manager and head of Design to help select vendors based on; quality standards, product construction, price and minimums.
- Brief offshore suppliers to meet the requirements of the product, including selection of raw materials and components.
- Ensure that Mimco quality standards are understood and adhered to via agent and vendor base
- Adhere to the company timetable and critical path to ensure delivery into stores is on time.
- Extensive experience in designing and developing footwear product ranges
- Sound knowledge of key raw materials, specifically leather
- Ideally a design degree or equivalent
- Competent in Illustrator and/or hand sketching skills
- The ability to develop and manage relationships with suppliers and stakeholders
- Previous experience in leading and motivating teams
