The Opportunity
We have opportunities across various categories including Leather, Fabric-Knit and Fabric-Woven.
What does the role involve?
- Giving technical support to the fabric sourcing team and merchandiser and helping them to develop fabric suppliers.
- Conducting technical training and presentation for suppliers and internal colleagues on quality and process.
- Provide expert knowledge on Fabrics to support the attainment of the strategy and vision
- Research Fabric or Leather trends and market
- Lead collaborations with external Fabric Mills internationally to drive Fabric or Leather quality, sustainability and innovation across the Group
- Understand brand and Group expectations with regards to quality to ensure vendors and mills can meet this
- Support on any fabric issue, starting from sourcing, development, sampling, base test, lab-dip/strike-off/handloom, bulk testing, appearance, handle and colour approval, garment washing, garment dyeing, etc.
- Partner with Brand teams and S&SC colleagues to achieve Fabric or Leather sourcing synergies
Who are we looking for?
- Bachelor of Fashion/Textiles or equivalent tertiary design qualification
- Understanding of garment grading and sizing
- Understanding of patternmaking
- Understanding of Fabric or Leather vendors internationally and their specific areas of expertise and innovation
- Solid commercial acumen, able to provide advice to Brand & S&SC colleagues that finds Fabric or Leather solutions in line with commercial targets for Brand, Category or particular garment
- Attention to detail in both workmanship and overall quality of a garment.
