- **Strategic Leadership**: The Associate Director will spearhead the creation and execution of a comprehensive automation strategy that aligns with the organisation’s long-term goals. This involves understanding the broader business objectives and translating them into actionable automation initiatives.
- **Solution Architecture**: Oversee the architecture of automation solutions, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and integrate seamlessly with existing systems. This requires a deep understanding of both current network infrastructure and emerging technologies.
- **Solution Design**: Lead the design of automation solutions, focusing on creating efficient and effective frameworks that meet the organisation’s needs. This includes defining technical specifications and ensuring the solutions are aligned with strategic objectives.
- **Product and Service Ownership**: Take full ownership of the automation products from conception to implementation. This includes defining process workflows, setting performance benchmarks, and ensuring continuous improvement. The Associate Director will be responsible for the end-to-end management of automation projects, ensuring they meet the desired outcomes and deliver value to the organisation. Additionally, prioritising features and functionalities based on business needs and stakeholder input. This involves managing the product lifecycle, from initial concept through to deployment and ongoing optimisation.
- **Demand Management**: Review and prioritisation of automation requests and initiatives across Networks. Working closely with various stakeholders, including IT, Enterprise, Assurance, Network Engineering, and other Networks business units, to ensure the automation strategy is well-integrated and supported across the organisation. This includes influencing and guiding teams to adopt new technologies and processes.
- **Performance Measurement**: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of automation initiatives. This includes tracking deployment success rates, system reliability, and the overall impact on operational efficiency.
**What we're looking for**
- Ideally someone with a Solution Design/Architecture background who can turn the architecture into a strategic roadmap.
- Strong Telco domain experience is key for this role.
- Technical qualification (degree) in Telecommunications Engineering (or related Engineering discipline) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in senior leadership roles with hands-on coaching, mentoring and performance management experience.
- Background in overseeing service design and delivery teams, with a focus on delivering reliable and high-performance network services.
- Experience in change management, external governance, and optimising legacy tasks associated with network services.
- Experience across Telecommunications domains including RAN, Voice, Packet, Transport, IP as well as understanding of virtual/cloud networks.
- Experience in DevOps / Software development.
- Managed portfolio of complex technical programs for at least two years.
