We're recruiting an experienced Senior Network Automation / Build Engineer for a high-priority transformation project within a large enterprise environment. This is a hands-on contract role suited to someone who is equally comfortable building and implementing network infrastructure as they are automating it.

While the role has a strong automation focus, the successful contractor must be flexible and happy to switch between network build, implementation, and automation as required by the project.

The Role You'll join a high-performing Data Centre Network Services – Build & Automation team, working closely with architecture, engineering, build, run teams and project managers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Hands-on network build and implementation across complex environments
  • Developing and maintaining Python-based automation for routing, traffic, and configuration
  • Supporting large-scale network migration projects, including international components
  • Automating manual change processes to improve efficiency and reliability
  • Contributing to the automation roadmap while remaining delivery-focused
  • Working across both project and BAU uplift activities

What You'll Bring Essential:

  • Strong automation mindset — Python experience is essential
  • 5+ years' experience in enterprise or data centre networking
  • Proven experience in network build, implementation, and migration
  • Hands-on experience with version control (GitHub, Bitbucket)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
  • Experience with network automation frameworks such as:
  • PyATS, Ansible, Nornir, Netmiko, ROBOT Framework

Highly Desirable:

  • Strong knowledge of VxLAN, EVPN, or overlay networking technologies
  • Cisco routing and switching expertise (BGP, OSPF, STP, NX-OS, Nexus 9K)
  • Experience with data centre fabrics and orchestration tools (NDFC / DCNM)
  • Vendor certifications (CCNP or CCIE)
  • Firewall experience (Juniper SRX, CheckPoint, Fortinet, NSX)

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with ITIL change processes and ServiceNow
  • Exposure to cloud networking (AWS / Azure)
  • Knowledge of F5 load balancing, DNS, PKI / Crypto

If you're a hands-on network engineer who enjoys building networks as much as automating them, and you thrive in fast-paced transformation projects - this is an outstanding opportunity.
