We currently have an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Safety Health & Environment Advisor to join our HR team in Sydney on a 12-month contract.

**What you’ll do**

Reporting to the HR Director, you will plan, implement, and evaluate SHE programs across the commercial business to ensure they are compliant with legislation and AstraZeneca SHE policies. In this role, you will
- Implement and evaluate our wellbeing strategy to support a healthy workforce
- Manage workers compensation claims, liaise with Medical Practitioners, Rehabilitation suppliers and Workers Compensation Insurers
- Assist line managers to process Workers Compensation Claims and Return to Work programs
- Regularly assist in reviewing SHE policies and processes, as identified through changes of legislation as well as recommendations for change
- Review, update and implement the AstraZeneca Commercial Safety Management System
- Advise and support key stakeholders as a reference on specific topics of SHE; including Australian Standards, Codes of Practice, Risk assessment and mitigation
- Demonstrate effective incident investigation skills and good root cause analysis, coach and guide line managers in investigation techniques
- Identify opportunities for system & process improvements to drive effectiveness and simplification
- Maintain risk registers, conduct regular risk assessments, and action plan to improve our safety culture
- Assist in the management and delivery of environmental / sustainability initiatives aligned to our global carbon zero aspirations

**Essential for the role**
- Tertiary or formally recognised qualifications (University or TAFE) in occupational health and safety
- Experience working in a similar role and a sound understanding of SHE management system components, methodology, values and relevant standards and codes of practice
- Solid experience in investigations, root cause analysis, risk assessments, workers compensation, injury reduction and performance improvement programs
- Being resourceful, self-motivated, influential and proactive; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with employees across all levels

**Desirable for the role**
- Tertiary qualifications in environment & sustainability or currently studying in this area
- Workplace Trainer and Assessor Cert IV
- SHE Management System Auditing qualification
