**The Role**
A vacancy exists for an experienced Logistics Officer at Joint Logistics Unit (East) (JLU (E)) located in Moorebank.
The Logistics Officer will be responsible for a range of logistics functions including but not limited to, inventory management, logistics assurance, governance, contract management, procurement, local systems support.
Within the Logistics Management function, an APS 4 Logistics Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complex logistics inventory management work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have a good understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
An APS 4 Logistics Officer will be accountable for organising their workflow, making decisions within their defined parameters relating to area of responsibility and will seek guidance when required. They may exercise some discretion with respect to how legislation, procedures and guidelines are interpreted and applied to their work. They will provide administrative support that is informed and directed by their knowledge of the Logistics Management function. They may undertake some research and analysis activities.
The APS 4 Logistics Officer will be required to share information, monitor work practices, set work priorities and develop local procedures. They may supervise and provide leadership to a team, providing coaching and on-the-job training for newer and less experienced team members.
The APS 4 Logistics Officer may be required to communicate with, respond and provide advice to a range of stakeholders on moderately complex operational and administrative issues to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
**About our Team**
Logistics Services Branch is focused on planning, assuring and governing the delivery of warehousing and distribution services, including national high security item management to Defence.
The Branch is an integrated team of Commonwealth and Industry (Linfox) staff that act as the conduit between Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group item managers, Tri-Service Capability Managers, regional customers and the broader network for warehousing and distribution.
Logistics Services Branch offers a range of services including disposals, requests for storage, procurement, returns of stores and inventory control and support for all of the items held within our warehouses and demanded by customers. The Branch also governs and assures 10 of the 29 Defence Clothing Stores in the JLC Network operated by Ventia.
You will readily accept accountability under broad direction to perform and deliver logistics services within an integrated workforce. Your excellent verbal and written communication skills will enable you to collaborate with Australian Defence staff and industry with clarity and influence. You will contribute to a culture and practice of sharing and cooperation working in a diverse team to deliver timely, relevant, and impactful outcomes.
