**Head of Real Estate, Pacific**

**What can you expect?**

The Head of Real Estate, Pacific leads Mercer’s Real Estate investment, strategic advice and research in Australia / New Zealand (Pacific region).

The role is responsible for all real estate investment activity in the region and will manage and grow a large real estate portfolio to deliver strong returns by overseeing investment in direct real estate, commingled funds, co-investments, partnerships, secondaries and REITs. Risks will be managed appropriately through detailed investment underwriting, robust portfolio management, diversification and ongoing monitoring.

This position leads a team covering Pacific Real Estate markets, researching markets and investment managers and working with clients in both a discretionary and advisory capacity as required.

The Head of Real Estate - Pacific will be recognized as an industry expert in Real Estate and will support the growth of Mercer’s Pacific and Alternatives business’ through strong ambassadorship of Mercer with clients, prospects and the industry.

**We will count on you to**:

- Maintain expert understanding of the industry dynamics in the real estate asset class and communicate strongly to internal and external stakeholders
- Able to explain Mercer’s capabilities and dynamics of products internally and externally to support business development
- Manage and grow a large real estate portfolio to deliver strong returns across direct real estate, commingled funds, co-investments, partnerships, secondaries and REITs
- Maintain strong relationships with Investment Managers to gain early access to research, market trends and deal flow
- Negotiate mandates / IMAs to ensure favorable economics and risk mitigation for discretionary accounts
- Partner with Operations Teams to monitor reporting and resolve issues
- Manage team to ensure broad coverage of Real Estate Investment Managers across the Pacific region
- Oversee team to pro-actively manage and maintain a list of both potential and recommended managers in assigned product area(s) in accordance with established Manager Research procedures
- Manage team and partner with local and global colleagues to deliver asset class, portfolio management and manager research related services to external consulting clients
- Actively take a lead role in developing new business
- Explain value add of Mercer and specialist team to potential clients
- Contribute to and promote Mercer's external image through press, articles/papers and external presentations
- Provide leadership to the global real estate team, act as a role model and coach/mentor others
- Ensure all relevant compliance processes are understood and followed as appropriate
- Provide Real Assets input to local and global teams

**What you need to have**:

- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in relevant area such as finance, business or investment
- More than 10 years industry experience in fund management or investment consulting and sales with a key focus on private markets real estate in the Pacific region.
