**The Role**
The role involves the management of Army's cultural optimisation initiative, known as ‘Good Soldiering’ on behalf of the Chief of Army. As a member of a supportive team, you will be part of driving the communication across Army on a day-to-day basis, responding and aligning to broader departmental cultural intent and strategic planning for achieving Chief of Army’s diversity intent across a range of programs and initiatives.
The Culture and Diversity Policy Officer is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex strategic policy activities within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements. You will receive guidance and support to ensure you have everything that you need to succeed in this role.
Duties may include but not limited to:
- Perform complex Defence policy and program activities to deliver Army’s cultural and diversity policy initiatives.
- Coordinate and manage the development and implementation of policies and associated programs to promote Army participation in domestic and international programs consistent with Defence objectives.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives for the delivery of ongoing services and systems in support of Army programs.
- Develop submissions, briefs and reports and provide advice on Army and broader Defence issues.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders in relation to Army policies and programs.
- Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in group activities.
- Interpret and analyse policies and programs to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and procedures.
- Domestic travel may be required.

The APS6 Culture and Diversity Policy Officer is part of the Directorate of Workforce Strategy - Army and is located within the Army People Capability (APC) Branch of Army Headquarters. The branch is responsible for the modernisation of Army’s workforce to generate an ethical and value-based workforce that is prepared, adaptable and ready. You will part of a team ensuring the ongoing management of Army's culture and diversity programs and initiatives are valued. People enjoy working in this small integrated team as it seeks to innovate to ensure Army is Ready Now and Future Read.
