Community First Step (CFS) is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation in Sydney's Southwest. The organisation was founded over 50 years ago by a group of residents who originally formed the Fairfield Community Council for Social Development - a forum for community development and action on social issues.

CFS currently employs over 80 staff from over 17 cultural backgrounds across Community, Children and Disability services.

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced **Emergency Relief Coordinator.**

**About this opportunity**:
Reporting to the Community and Clinical Practice Lead (CCPL), the Emergency Relief Coordinator (ERC) is responsible for delivering Community First Steps Emergency Relief Service (ER Service) to individuals experiencing, or at risk of experiencing financial stress and hardship.

The role involves working collaboratively with clients to assess their needs, administer emergency financial and brokerage support, and facilitate case management to eligible individuals. The service is designed to support individuals in crisis with dignity and take a holistic approach to empower them in building financial capability and long-term resilience.

The ERC will also make tailored referrals based on each client’s unique circumstances, ensuring they are connected with appropriate internal and external services.
In addition, the role requires close collaboration with other members of the Community and Psychosocial Services team to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of frontline support.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Community Services, Social Science or equivalent.
- 2 years' experience in a similar role.
- Experience in the community services sector (particularly with culturally and linguistically diverse populations) is required, with knowledge of Western Sydney communities considered an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal or written and demonstrated ability to work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills to manage multiple cases and programs efficiently and in a timely manner.
- A current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- A current Working with Children Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Current NSW Driver’s license and reliable transport

**And**:
Be passionate about social justice and community empowerment, likely through work with non-profit organisations, social justice movements, or community-based organisations.

Be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrate a commitment to Work Health and Safety and CFS’ Cultural Diversity Principles.
