**Civil Engineering Technician (Geotech Laboratory / Field Technician)**

**Salary $54,000 - $66,000 per annum + SUPER**

Ground Science East services the geotechnical, environmental and laboratory testing sectors. With Victoria experiencing an explosion of major infrastructure works, our technical team is benchmarking the standards and level of service required to support our clients in delivering marque projects. Ground Science is widely accepted as an innovative consultancy across a variety of fields particularly in the sport and leisure market place. We have advanced the engineering around synthetic playing surfaces, hard court and conversions of turf fields to synthetic fields over poor ground conditions.

We are looking for someone who has the following:

- A good understanding of Australian Standards in relation to civil projects;
- A minimum qualification of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering;
- Experience (1-2 years) in civil projects in Australia;
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills;
- Experience in the use of laboratory equipment, including Nuclear Moisture Density Gauge;
- Excellent time management and organisational skills;
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team; and
- Proficient ability to grasp a full understanding of project specifications to the applicable Australian Standards.

Duties include, but not limited to:

- Performing laboratory testing onsite and offsite of construction materials;
- Assist in maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, including Nuclear Moisture Density Gauge;
- Aggregating for various test types across key projects;
- Sample preparation, material classification, Particle Size distribution, California Bearing Ratio, and compaction tests etc.;
- Conducting field tests of soils;
- Classifying materials;
- Ensuring field and laboratory work meets project and client specifications;
- Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment;
- Performing Level 1 supervision works on landfill projects within both Residence and Industrial areas;
- Perform the on-site role of Geo-Technician by inspecting and performing field Density tests;
- Collecting and analysing data;
- Assisting in estimating project costs;
- Preparing sketches for civil projects;
- Carrying out computation and analysing collected data; and
- Performing Dynamic Core Penetration tests on site, field density testing using the Nuclear Moisture Density Gauge, and field sampling.

**Salary**: $70,000.00 per year
