The Building Surveyor, (Building Codes and Standards) provides expert technical and regulatory advice in the delivery of State Building Surveyor functions, with a focus on developing improvements to national building and plumbing standards.
- The role will contribute to the continuous improvement of building standards and legislation in Victoria and the resolution of complex issues through analysis, thought leadership and the provision of expert advice and problem solving. Reporting to the Manager, Building Codes and Standards, this role will support the implementation and/or ongoing delivery of expert advice, policy and strategy responses relating to matters impacting the sector.

**To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate**:

- Provide expert technical and regulatory advice on building matters to the Senior Manager, Codes and Standards, State Building Surveyor, OSBS Leadership Team and government departments.
- Monitor the regulatory environment, identifying trends, issues, risks and impacts, and develop solutions and mitigation strategies, including legislative and technical solutions.
- Collaborate closely with the Lead Building Surveyor (Codes and Standards), Senior Manager (Codes and Standards) and OSBS Leadership team across a range of technical elements of compliance, guidance and interpretation of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and relevant standards.
- Support projects associated with the ongoing review, evaluation and revision of the Building Act, Regulations, National Construction Code (NCC) and other standards.

**About the BPC**
- The Building & Plumbing Commission (BPC) is Victoria's new regulator for building and plumbing.
- It brings together the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV), and the domestic building insurance function of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) into one organisation.
- Key functions related to building and plumbing regulation will come together under one roof, including registration, inspection and compliance, practitioner discipline, dispute resolution, and domestic building insurance. These services will now part of the BPC and will be fully integrated over the next 12 months.
