MQ Health is seeking an Advanced Trainee in Gastroenterology to provide clinical services for both inpatients and outpatients within the speciality.

The Role
- Assisting with endoscopy procedures include gastroscopy, colonoscopy, chromoendoscopy, stricture dilatations and balloon enteroscopy.- Participating in research projects and clinical trials- Supervising and train students, registrars and other Doctors in Training- Contributing to educational activities with MQ Health- Learning transabdominal ultrasound for IBD.

About You
Ideally you will be enrolled into a higher degree and working on a research project. You will be a registrar seeking to further your skills and knowledge in gastroenterology. You will be keen to work in an innovative multidisciplinary environment and be passionate about providing patient centred care. You will have experience working within busy inpatient settings, while balancing supervision, teaching and mentoring of junior staff and medical students.
Key Accountabilities include _(not limited to)_:
- Provide clinical service within the scope of practice as granted by the MUH Medical Advisory Committee and approved by the MUH Board to patients of MUH and the Clinic.- Administers clinical management and timely treatment of patients (both inpatient and outpatient) delegated by the clinical supervisor(s) and the care of colleagues within the discipline.- Partake with Endoscopy procedures including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, chromoendoscopy, stricture dilatations, ERCP, and balloon enteroscopy.- Liaise and work effectively with allied health professionals involved in patient care including the broader care team.- Supervise and commit to maintain accurate documentation and completion of electronic medical records in a timely manner to reflect clinical decisions, tests, procedures and discharge diagnoses and instructions.- Perform ward rounds, independently or with others (such as junior medical staff and/or the admitting doctor and/or clinical supervisor(s), as required for inpatient care at MUH as far as possible within the normal working hours of the ward.- Ensure compliance with the standards contained within the ACSQHC National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards for accreditation.- Provide multidisciplinary clinical supervision, training and education in patient care environments including for nursing, allied health, junior medical staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team

- Current registration as a medical practitioner in Australia (or ability to obtain - including English language requirements)- Demonstrated experience in Gastroenterology.- Demonstrated understanding of the patients’ perspective and ability to communicate key information to the patient and carers.- Demonstrated interest and aptitude for one or more of the following activities: supervision of students; delivery of education activities; research.- A strong commitment to multidisciplinary approaches to clinical care and ability to work as part of a team.
