Policy Officer

Ongoing full-time role based at Oxford Street Darlinghurst.

- Clerk Grade 7/8, salary ranging from $101,947-$112,849 per annum plus superannuation.

**About the agency**:
The Office of the Independent Review Officer (IRO) is an independent public service agency within the Customer Service Cluster with a range of functions including:

- dealing with enquiries and complaints from persons injured at work or in motor vehicle accidents about insurers, with a focus on finding solutions.
- administering and managing the Independent Legal Assistance & Review Service (ILARS) which provides funding to independent lawyers for injured workers to provide legal advice about their rights and entitlements to workers’ compensation.
- inquiring into and reporting to the Minister on matters in connection with the operation of the Personal Injury Commission Act 2020, the workers compensation legislation and motor accidents legislation.

The role has flexible working arrangements but will require attendance in the office to meet with Manager and staff meetings on a fortnightly basis or as required from time to time.

**Primary Purpose of the role**:
The Policy Officer undertakes research, policy development and provides policy analysis and advice to achieve the agency’s strategic objectives and outcomes aligned to broader system objectives.

**Here’s a taste of what you’ll be doing**:

- Undertaking allocated policy tasks including research and analysis and providing support services to the policy team
- Undertake qualitative and quantitative research and analysis to assist understanding of policy impacts and delivery of desired policy outcomes, and support policy and program development
- Prepare discussion papers, collate information for reporting, prepare timely reports for monitoring and evaluation purposes and contribute to the achievement of organisational objectives
- Support the Policy team to build and develop internal and external networks to ensure the effective development and management of strategic initiatives.

**Key Skills and Experience to be successful**:

- Degree in a relevant discipline.
- Sound working knowledge of NSW legislation.
- Awareness of how regulatory and policy factors impact on service delivery.
- Strong work ethic, outcome focused, with a can-do attitude to work to tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated prior experience in policy or a policy/relevant related role.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and a keen interest in improving customers experience with government services.

Salary Grade 7/8, with the base salary for this role starting at $101947 base plus superannuation
