**The Opportunity**

As our Health, Safety and Wellbeing Lead, you will be responsible for:

- The co-design and implementation of our strategies for enabling a high performing HSW culture aimed at achieving zero harm in the workplace, legislative compliance, contemporary practice, current research and alignment to AQAs Strategic Plan
- Continuing the momentum, we’ve gained on our journey to embedding health, safety and wellbeing mindsets right across the organisation
- AQAs Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System
- Health and Wellbeing including mental health and wellbeing
- Injury management
- Workplace rehabilitation and return to work
- Workers compensation
- Risk and incident management
- Quality assurance
- Employee assistance services

In addition to a genuine passion for ensuring our people get home safe every day, we’re looking for someone who brings:

- A holistic approach to organisational safety; combining a strategic mindset with strong technical knowledge and commercial pragmatism
- Exceptional relationship building and consultation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels across the organisation
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing OHS, WHS and/or HSW plans, strategies and initiatives to positively influence and drive outcomes across an organisation
- Recognised qualification in Work Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety and/or significant high-level experience in this specialist area
- Demonstrated relevant experience delivering safety leadership advice and support to resolve problems where a number of complex alternatives need to be addressed in a diverse organisation
- High level of independence in solving problems and using judgement
- Ability to work under broad supervision and to effectively self-manage day-to-day workflow
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and respond effectively to change
- High level of energy, initiative, sound judgement and a sense of urgency
- Provide evidence of a minimum of 3 COVID-19 vaccinations before commencing employment or a valid medical exemption certificate
- NDIS workers screening check (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).

Established in 1987 by a group of people with quadriplegia who saw a need to improve access to information, support and employment opportunities for people who had sustained a spinal cord injury (SCI).
