**Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage APS6 Policy Officers for a 12-month assignment with potential extension in both Geelong and Richmond.**

**About the Team**

The Mainstream Interface & Royal Commissions Branch represents the Agency’s position on strategic policy matters in intergovernmental, bilateral and multilateral forums, to inform policy decisions that align with legislation, obligations and priorities, enhance outcomes for participants, are fit for purpose and maintain the intent and integrity of the scheme. It is responsible for leading and managing the Agency’s involvement in strategic policy matters relating the scheme's interactions with other support systems such as health, housing, education, aged care and child protection.

The Branch contributes to key Ministerial priority areas of reducing the number of Younger People in Residential Aged Care, and supporting the safe and timely discharge of participants from hospital

**About the Role**

The
**APS6 Policy Officer** is required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. Where required, the role will coordinate and assist in strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.

**Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to**:

- Interpreting, drafting and reviewing policy and procedural issues with relevant business areas and key stakeholders.
- Contributing to the planning and implementation of Agency policies and objectives.
- Drafting reports, briefing papers, agendas, minutes, speeches, Ministerial correspondence and discussion papers.
- Conducting research and analysis to inform policy development and support implementation.
- Tailoring written and verbal communications for a variety of audiences, providing advice on complex issues.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, participate in committees and forums.
- Identifying emerging issues across mainstream interfaces and suggesting potential solutions.

It is highly desirable that the successful applicant understand or lived experience in the field of disability.

**- Temporary contract for 12 months, with possibility to extend**

**- Standard Hours of work - Monday to Friday, 8:30 am till 5:00 pm
