Assistant Director

12-month Non-Ongoing Executive Level 1 opportunity

We are seeking to fill an Assistant Director to help lead our Data Assessment and Analytics team. The current position available is to backfill a 12-month secondment.

Full-time and part-time hours are available. Successful applicants will be required to work part of the week out of one of the advertised office locations, and may also work some of the time from home.

**About the FWO**

The Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) is an independent statutory office established by the Fair Work Act 2009. Our purpose is to:

**About the team and role**

The Large Corporates Branch (Branch) is responsible for delivering targeted compliance and enforcement outcomes in matters involving large corporate entities.

The Data Assessment and Analytics team, as part of the Large Corporate Branch, is seeking an Assistant Director (Executive Level 1) to contribute to the management of investigations of potential large corporate non-compliance with workplace laws. You will:

- Manage a team of data analysts in utilising proven data science approaches (R, PowerBI and SQL) to analyse multiple sources of data to support investigators and prioritise evidence review.
- Harness expert knowledge and a demonstrated understanding of regulatory investigations and project management to lead staff and provide direction to external and internal stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of analysis outcomes.
- Identify the improvement of processes and drive their implementation to ensure timely and effective delivery of investigation and data analysis outcomes.
- Develop junior staff to achieve an effective understanding of the Australian workplace relations system (or equivalent regulatory experience) and the use of technological solutions for complex problems.

Some travel will be required.

- Excellent ability to plan, prioritise and manage work to limited timeframes under competing priorities, for both yourself and your team.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience in providing creative, flexible and pragmatic solutions to complex challenges.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to succinctly articulate complex information and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and leverage productive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve team and agency objectives.
