- Position - Principal Advisor (Transport Infrastructure Projects such as railway, bus stops, roadways)

**Position Overview**:
The Principal Adviser for Transport Infrastructure Projects is a pivotal role.

This position is responsible for leading the development, analysis, and assessment of business cases for major transport infrastructure projects.

The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring that proposed projects are financially viable, aligned with strategic objectives, and deliver substantial benefits to the state's transportation network.

This position will report to the Principal engineer.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead the formulation and execution of comprehensive business cases for significant transport infrastructure projects. This includes conducting rigorous financial analysis, cost-benefit assessments, risk evaluations, and stakeholder engagement to inform investment decisions.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, industry experts, and community representatives to gather input, address concerns, and ensure projects are designed to meet the needs of all relevant parties.
- Provide expert guidance on business case methodologies, economic appraisal, and financial modeling to ensure accurate evaluation and robust justification of proposed transport infrastructure investments.
- Collaborate closely with senior management to ensure that proposed projects align with the department's strategic plans, goals, and key performance indicators, contributing to the advancement of Queensland's transportation infrastructure.
- Lead a skilled team of professionals engaged in business case development, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and cooperation. Provide mentorship and guidance to support the team's professional growth.
- Implement rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure that business case documentation adheres to established standards, guidelines, and relevant legislation.
- Identify potential risks associated with proposed projects and develop strategies to mitigate these risks, ensuring robust risk management practices are embedded within business cases.
- Collaborate with project managers and executive leadership to integrate business cases into broader project governance frameworks. Monitor and report on project progress, outcomes, and performance against key metrics.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance business case development methodologies, tools, and practices. Champion innovative approaches to project evaluation and stakeholder engagement.
- Presenting outcomes to working groups, steering committees and stakeholders.
