Our Energy Minerals Division provides high-quality, independent coal analysis and services to many Australian and international coal companies. We have NATA accredited (ISO/IEC 17025) coal laboratories servicing all major coal ports in Australia and have significant involvement with the superintending of coal exported overseas, quality control at mine sites / power plants and borecore evaluation. Our tech services provide mechanical sampling design and commissioning for all bulk particulate materials.

**Job Description**:

- Provide management support to the Business in areas of coal superintendence, production monitoring and Exploration work.
- Provide site leadership to Newcastle, establish clearly communicated standards of performance for teams and actively manage and support team members to achieve the required standard
- Provide operational conditions providing for high quality service so that reports and certificates delivered to clients in an accurate and timely manner.
- Provide direction to the site supervisors and reporting staff in the areas of coal superintending and coordination of production monitoring and Exploration activities
- Liaise with internal and external customers in regards to operational performance including TAT’s, quality and customer service.
- Investigate and implement improvements to procedures, equipment and training to maximize productivity and quality.
- Assist and deputise for the Business manager in areas of financial control and management
- Conduct performance evaluations and ensure performance management is carried out as required and in accordance with the SGS policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all proficiency tests are completed and reported in the allocated time frame, assist the National Technical Manager with CAR’s to improve proficiency.
- At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.

**Qualifications**:

- Customer service orientation with previous experience in a coal laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of the SGS system and procedures for coal superintending and project sampling and analysis
- Good organizational skills regarding coordination of audits and reporting to clients in a timely manner
- Knowledge and experience in process improvement/optimizing efficiencies
- Skilled in building high performance teams
- High level of customer focus
- Strong drive for results
- Thinks Strategically & Translates Strategy into Actions
