**The Role**

Do you enjoy making complex information easy to read and understand?

We’re looking for a content designer to fill a potential vacancy in our team. You’ll play an important role in supporting how Defence communicates information about pay and conditions to ADF members and Defence employees. With a strong focus on user needs, you’ll review and develop web content that supports ADF members and their families understand their pay and conditions

You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team using agile principles to:

- Lead the design, development, and refinement of web content
- Use user research and design thinking methodologies to create content that’s aligned to the audience’s needs.
- Lead content-related research activates
- Establish and manage stakeholder relationships to support effective collaboration and project delivery.

You’ll collaborate with a motivated, fun, and supportive team to deliver positive outcomes.

We are a multi-disciplinary team that supports remote work and promotes good communication practices. This role is situated within the Directorate of Drafting and Engagement, which forms part of a larger branch within the Department of Defence. The branch is focused on developing people policies and employment conditions for both Defence APS employees and ADF members. As a valued member of the team, you will contribute to implementing updates to ADF pay and conditions information on our site, while ensuring we provide a user-centred approach to the ADF members and their families who access it.

The team has its headquarters in Canberra, but supports flexible work arrangements with members working from home across the central and eastern states and territories. This is supported by occasional travel requirements.

You’re proactive, eager to learn, and passionate about making web content easier for users to access and understand.

We want to hear from you if you:

- Are an experienced content designer with a strong track record of creating clear, effective and engaging content.
- Have an eye for detail with a very good understanding of grammar and content design principles.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to:

- Have expertise in writing and editing for digital web content as well as a strong understanding of service design principles
- Have experience in creating user-centred accessible content that addresses a wide range of audience requirements
- Be able to analyse complex information and create clear, concise, and engaging content
- Be able to build and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders
- Have a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.

Given our geographically dispersed team, you will also need to be an eager communicator ready to embrace digital communication tools.
