**As a Value Outcome Lead, decision-making is a critical requirement of the role. VOL's are responsible for guiding products through their lifecycle, from conception to launch and beyond.

Specifically, the VOL:

- Establishing the long-term vision and objectives for the product
- Oversees multiple initiatives, communicating clearly with stakeholders, assisting team with overcoming blockers, managing risk, and driving improvements.
- Exercises flexibility in decision-making to adapt to changing priorities, with the goal of facilitating efficient delivery of priorities.
- Setting product features or iterations.
- Providing direction to cross-functional teams involved in product development.
- Negotiating with vendors, stakeholders, and others as necessary to advance the product's interests.
- Making decisions on when and how to iterate on the product based on analytics and feedback.

A VOL is essentially the link between the business and the development team. They must provide leadership in the strategic, tactical, and operational aspects of product management. They also drive the process, balance various interests, address challenges, and make necessary adjustments to keep the product on track with quality and time constraints. Essentially, the VOL must continuously work to ensure it meets the needs of both the business and customers.
