Risk Lead - Seniors Services
Full-time | Fixed-term until 30 June 2026 (with potential to extend)
Based in Sydney CBD | Hybrid working model
At Uniting, we are committed to delivering safe, sustainable, and high-quality services that meet the needs of our community. We are seeking a skilled and proactive Risk Lead to help shape and embed best-practice risk management across our Seniors Services directorate.
In this Line 1 risk management position, you’ll be at the forefront of operationalising Uniting’s Risk Management Framework within Seniors Services. You’ll work closely with our frontline teams, leaders, and the broader Risk & Assurance function to build capability, awareness, and strong governance.
Key responsibilities
You’ll lead and coordinate risk activities to ensure operational risks are proactively identified, assessed, and managed. Your focus will be on:

- Embedding effective risk practices aligned to Uniting’s Risk Management Framework.
- Driving compliance with relevant regulatory standards including the Aged Care Quality Standards.
- Partnering with the Heads of Seniors Services to embed risk into everyday service planning and delivery.
- Supporting risk reporting, education, and training initiatives.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date risk registers and operational controls.
- Contributing to business continuity planning and incident response.
- Supporting change initiatives and procurement activities with sound risk advice.
- Providing regular, tailored risk insights to directorate leadership and the Line 2 Risk Manager.

You’ll act as the go-to risk advisor for the Seniors Services directorate while maintaining strong ties with our Line 2 Risk & Assurance team to ensure a consistent and aligned approach across the organisation.
About you
You’re an experienced, hands-on risk professional who enjoys partnering with others to solve problems, improve processes, and create meaningful change. You’re confident navigating complexity, influencing without authority, and working both collaboratively and independently.
**To be successful in this role, you’ll need**:

- A bachelor’s degree in risk management or a related discipline, or at least 5 years' relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in operational risk management, compliance, or governance roles.
- Solid knowledge of risk frameworks, incident management, business continuity and controls.
- Experience in aged care, community services, health or the not-for-profit sector.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle priorities across a complex environment.
- Clear and effective communication skills—both written and verbal.
- A collaborative mindset with the confidence to lead and influence change.

**Even better if you bring**:

- Experience in regulated environments (e.g., NDIS, Aged Care, child safety).
- Qualifications in community services, social work, business, or a related field.
- Knowledge of ISO 31000 and experience working within not-for-profit or public sector governance.
