**Division Responsibilities**
The Service Delivery Division (SDD) incorporates staff in all State and Territory offices and is
responsible for local implementation of a range of Australian Government health and aged
care programs. SDD has a key role in supporting the delivery of programs and services, while
managing relationships and partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders. The
Division contributes to policy and program development, review and evaluation of health
and aged care programs.
From July 2021, the Division has been involved in implementing Australian Government
responses to the Aged Care Royal Commission. This includes implementing a stewardship
role to support the sector at the local level. Stewardship of the aged care system is about
understanding the whole system. Engaging with senior Australians and supporting aged care
providers to make the changes needed to ensure they provide the highest quality of aged
care, and drive improvements in local delivery of aged care services.
**Branch Responsibilities**
The State and Territory offices are responsible for local implementation of a range of
Australian Government health and aged care programs. Each State Office has a key role in
delivering programs and services, while managing relationships and partnerships with key
internal and external stakeholders. State and Territory offices have been leading the rollout
of local Department of Health and Aged Care regional teams to support governance of aged
care at the local level from 2021.
The Victorian and Tasmanian State offices work collaboratively with the other state and
territory offices as well as policy, program, regulatory and corporate areas of the
Department to deliver strong outcomes in the following areas:
- Implementation of reforms in aged care working in collaboration with the sector.
- Providing local leadership of the aged care sector, within the broader stewardship
role of the Department.
- Emergency and COVID -19 case management response.
