**Position Description Neighbourhood Centre
- Community Program Officer**

**Purpose**

The Neighbourhood Centres offer a space for our community to meet, socialise, and connect.
They serve as inclusive hubs of activity in the City of Marion, providing programs and services
for all ages and abilities.

The primary focus of this role is to contribute to achieving the objectives of City Services,
Community Connections, and the Neighbourhood Centres. This involves enhancing their
strategies and goals while effectively executing the Community Program Officer
responsibilities.

The Neighbourhood Centre Community Program Officer will be an integral team member,
responsible for ensuring that processes related to the planning, delivery, evaluation and
promoting of programs, groups, and activities are streamlined and efficient, providing a
positive customer experience

**Key Deliverables**
- Plan and deliver community programs, projects and activities in the Neighbourhood

Centres based on current and emerging community needs, and in accordance with
Council’s community vision and funding obligations.
- Develop and implement innovative and flexible programs that foster engagement and

inclusion of our whole community.
- Support relevant social research and community engagement processes to increase

understanding of community needs, challenges and aspirations.
- Support existing and recruit new program facilitators and volunteers to support other

agencies and organisations to provide programs and services to the City of Marion’s
Neighbourhood Centres. This includes maximising the use of the four (4)
Neighbourhood Centers and their resources.
- Maintain and track statistical data to monitor and report on outcomes of programs and

events to ensure that funding requirements are being met
- Support with the day to day running of the Neighbourhood Centres by providing

support to the Customer Experience team including customer service duties ranging
from but not limited to, telephone enquiries, venue hire tours, café sales, and program
booking administration and cash handling as required.
- Monitor and report on program expenditure and variances as required.
- Gather and analyse customer feedback to establish the value, satisfaction and

expectations for each service provided within your responsibility.

**Person Specification**

Essential criteria
- Advanced communication skills both written and verbal.
- Coordination of programs and facilitators, including staff and volunteers.
- At least five years’ experience working within a human services / community

development / community services or related field.
- Experience working in grant funded programs, including meeting grant guideline

requirements and reporting requirements.
Desirable criteria
- Qualifications in Community Services or Community Development
- Skills in project management, community development, program evaluation, and

supervising volunteers.
- Effective communication including facilitation, community consultation, networking,

marketing, negotiation, and written skills.
- Knowledge of Community Development principles, the Community and

Neighbourhood Centre sect
