About You
The Multicultural Child and Family Program (MCFP) provides a range of services to assist children and young people who have been found to be in need of care and protection to meet their permanent needs - safety, stability and wellbeing through a culturally aware and responsive lens. The MCFP uses a client centred, strengths-based, trauma informed framework to guide its service delivery and facilitate sustainable and practical outcomes for children, young people, families and carers; working in partnership with member agencies and local ethnic and sector partners.
The position will ensure teams are positioned to provide trauma informed, culturally responsive strength-based services to children and families at risk or supported through foster care, to assist the children feel safe, stable, connected to family, community and culture and to facilitate processes that enhance opportunities for them to achieve optimal wellbeing outcomes.
The position will lead a team of case workers to deliver case management that aims to achieve permanency goals for children and young people, including restoration, guardianship, adoption and long term kin or general foster care.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and supervise caseworkers
- Oversee Permanency Support program case management responsibilities.
- Mentor and Coach new and experienced staff
- Embed a high-performance culture and champion best practice
- Work collaboratively as part of a team with the MCFP program staff and other SSI programs to strengthen SSI’s work in supporting permanency for children and young people
- Liaise with DCJ and other government and NGO partner agencies in relation to referrals, case management and reportable activity
- Ensure compliance with internal and external standards, including legislative, regulatory and funding requirements, professional and clinical practices and work health and safety standards
- Other duties as directed from time to time within your skills range and capacity.

Essential Criteria
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in the field of Casework, OOHC and/or child protection
- Previous experience with Children’s Court work and or DCJ - Demonstrated ability to engage families with high and complex needs and work in partnership with them to achieve their goals, using a variety of intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of current NSW child protection and OOHC care permanency reforms
- Knowledge of trauma informed practice
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience in managing a team and coordinating workloads.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution and performance management skills
- Well-developed, risk assessment, analytical and negotiation skills - NSW Drivers Licence
- Strong ethics, accountability, and integrity
- Experience working effectively with CALD families and communities
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or similar qualification required
