About Role
The Multicultural Child and Family (MCFP) Program provides a range of services to assist children and young people who have been found to be in need of care and protection to meet their permanent care plan needs - safety, stability and wellbeing through a culturally aware and responsive lens.
The Program uses a client centred, strengths-based, trauma informed framework to guide its service delivery and facilitate sustainable and practical outcomes for children, young people, families and carers; working in partnership with member agencies and local ethnic and sector partners. Its cultural lens aims to link children and young people with a bilingual worker and/or carer and/or community based matched bilingual support worker.
The Program has contractual responsibilities with DCJ and regulatory responsibilities with the Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG).
About You
You will assess, reassess and review the foster carers’ assessments and create carer development plans. You are also required to support the foster carers where required

**Responsibilities**:

- Target and assess foster carers according to the NSW Child Safe Standards which includes producing comprehensive assessment reports using analytical skills to inform recommendations in a timely manner.
- Work as a part of a team in a flexible and agile way to meet the needs of carers and children within SSI Permanency Support Program.
- Work closely with Community Partners including Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and respond to referrals from DCJ.
- Assist with coordinating the recruitment, training, and assessment of Multicultural Foster Carers.
- Review carer’s authorisation and complete comprehensive carer review reports including completing carer development plans with carers encompassing training needs.
- Participate in conducting training for foster carers whilst adhering to SSI Policy and Procedures.
- Provide carer support to foster carers including supporting with onboarding and retaining carers to SSI, particularly kinship carers that represent the cultures of children entering care.
- Collaborate and partake on the development and implementation of community engagement strategies to promote culturally responsive foster care in selected areas and communities.
- Promote foster care with SSI and increase interest and enquiries from suitable applicants wanting to pursue culturally responsive kinship and foster care.

Essential Criteria
- Tertiary Education in Social work or relevant qualifications and/or relevant equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children, young people and families.
- Understanding of and experience in the field of casework, training, PSP, child protection and Foster Care.
- Well-developed analytical and organisational skills
- Previous experience working with culturally & linguistically diverse communities
- NSW driver’s licence
