We are currently looking for a **Safety Coordinator** to join us, based on two projects in Melbourne’s north-west - a level crossing removal project and a tram maintenance facility redevelopment.

**About the Role**:
Whilst you will be initially based on the North Western Program Alliance, this is a permanent career opportunity with John Holland.

As a Safety Coordinator, you will support the Safety Manager and wider team in developing Health & Safety strategies and establishing procedures, as well as implementing and monitoring programs to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all staff and sub-contractors.

Through on-site and formal training, this role will lead you becoming a Project Safety Advisor.

**Responsibilities of the role include;**:

- Provide support, coordination and advice of Health Safety practices, systems and procedures within a defined workplace.
- Administer education and compliance programs for employees, contractors and visitors within a defined workplace.
- Initiate and coordinate accredited training programs for occupational health and safety committee members and first aid officers
- Conduct Health And Safety audits and inspections
- Identify hazards and event prevention programs
- Provide direction and support to the Project Leadership Team to develop and implement adequate Health And Safety training within a defined workplaces
- Implement occupational health and safety procedures based on approved company policies in the areas of health, safety and fire prevention
- Coordinate the investigation of causes on site and maintain documentation in accordance with Health and Safety procedures
- To provide Health and Safety specialist advice and technical input to delivery, ensuring that legal and contractual obligations / risks are identified and communicated appropriately
- Maintain records of all Health and Safety requirements at the work place, in accordance with legislative company requirements and provide statistical summaries of these records
- Conduct return to work coordinator activities
- Perform all duties in accordance with John Holland policies, processes, systems and procedures

**To be successful in this role, you will have;**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Quality, Environment, Project Management or other associated disciplines
- Or Diploma Safety in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
- More than 3 year’s construction HSE management experience preferably on a Major project, Infrastructure or Rail project
- Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
- Ability to conduct and interpret audits and reviews
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Passion for developing your career with John Holland and be mentored by industry experts
