**About our Organisation**

Kurbingui is an Aboriginal community-based and driven not-for-profit organisation that offers services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, families, children and young people living within the Greater Brisbane, Moreton Bay and South East regions.

Kurbingui currently delivers various community services covering areas such as employment and training, family support, domestic and family violence, alcohol and substance abuse, cultural education and engagement programs, education support for families and children from preschool to tertiary, recreation and sports, early years, youth, women’s and men’s programs and cultural group activities, and health and nutrition.

**The Role**

The Program Manager - Youth & Families is part of the senior management team providing support, guidance and supervision to both the team leader / coordinator group and frontline service staff. The position is closely aligned with the Chief Executive Officer and assists internally and externally as required.

The Program Manager - Youth & Families ensures that the programs adhere to the respective service agreements, best practice guidelines and evidence-based practices, as well as being aware of emerging state and federal service development requirements. The position actively participates across all program areas and is responsible for facilitating operational management of program services, developing integrated working partnerships; ensuring quality service delivery, maintenance of accreditation status including the Human Services Quality Framework standards (HSQF), quality management through International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), National Disability Industry Services (NDIS), risk management, and ongoing development of services.

**Selection Criteria**:

- Experience in the same or similar role.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and their cultures, and a general understanding of the issues that are affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in contemporary Australian society.
- Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, consultation, negotiation and liaison skills (especially in relation to Indigenous youth, families and communities) including the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Demonstrated experience in working effectively with families, children, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, and external sources/agencies.
- (a) Demonstrated management and/or team leader / supervision skills. (b) Demonstrated experience in the professional supervision of team members involving critical reflection, to enhance both their practice skills and professional knowledge-base. (c) Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team in the delivery and support of early intervention.
- High level understanding of child protection and youth justice systems in Queensland including the significance of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child placement principles, frameworks, policies and practices, and relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to balance and prioritise various and complex client engagement, staff management, staff supervision and administrative and reporting requirements including the use of various databases.
- Willing and able to work within a culturally competent context and Kurbingui’s mission, vision and values.

**Qualifications/ Certifications**
- Qualifications and/or equal professional experience in psychology, social work, community services, health, youth work, early childhood with a focus on child protection.
- COVID vaccination or contraindication
- Blue Card / or ability to obtain prior to commencement
- Drivers Licence
- First Aid and CPR (desirable)

Based in Zillmere with travel to Caboolture and Inala offices, we offer a competitive remuneration package in line with the ‘Fisher’ & ‘316 Regulation’ pay scale and other conditions in line with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award.

Employment is conditional upon producing a current Blue Card as well as maintaining clear personal history screening checks prior to and throughout employment. You will be required to undergo a Criminal History check.
