About the role

KWM Sydney boasts an in-house café on level 60 of our CBD offices, which services all employees and staff. With a changing daily menu, close proximity to the client floor and the ever-tempting lure of coffee, our café is often the unofficial hub of the firm for staff, clients and guests alike. This is a rare opportunity for barista professionals with leadership skills to enjoy harbour views, a Monday - Friday gig, and a regular cohort of professional customers to build rapport with.

This role provides leadership to café staff in the provision of outstanding food, beverage and customer service. You will be responsible for staff supervision and rosters, ordering, stock management and financial reporting as well as ensuring the overall presentation and operations of the café is maintained to the highest standard.

Key duties include:

- High level food and beverage service, including barista coffee service.
- Light food preparation duties.
- Supervise café team and take responsibility for service skills and standards within the team including performance management responsibilities
- Overseeing open/pack down of café.
- Assist in the preparation of staff rosters.
- Coordination and supervision of any café events or functions
- Cash handling and management including banking.
- Active involvement with weekly menu planning for the Café in consultation with the Chefs.
- Stock control and management, including reviewing pricing of goods.
- Managing point of sale transactions and financial reporting.
- Process invoices and assist with management of catering budget
- Maintaining Standard Operating Procedures and Manual.
- Other duties as requested by Hospitality Supervisor and/or Head Chef such as evening functions.

What experience are we looking for?
- Barista experience and extensive coffee knowledge, combined with experience in a supervisory or leadership role
- High level computer skills and experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Food Safety Certificate - food storage, handling and stock control experience
- Responsible Service of Alcohol certification
- Experience with point of sale systems
- Customer service focus and excellent communication skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Flexible in working hours
- Any further education, courses or qualifications related to the hospitality industry highly regarded
