An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Structural Designer to join the Opal Specialty Packaging team at our Oakleigh, VIC site. This is a great opportunity to expand your design capabilities whilst being part of a great team and working environment.

This will be initially a 12-month Fixed Term Contract role. We can offer the role on a part-time basis if your preference is to work 3 or 4 days per week can happily accommodate flexibility.

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

- Supporting the creation of product illustrations, concept sketches, diagrams, design specifications and technical drawings (die lines).
- Building virtual models of packaging formats using CAD programs to create high quality visualisations and die-lines/geometry for mock-ups/prototypes.

- Ideally some packaging & structural design experience
- The ability to articulate and communicate creative ideas via concept sketching or verbal presentations
- A good understanding of 3-dimensional form and space
- Ability to prepare accurate technical specifications (e.g. die lines) for quotation & manufacturing
- Ability to use CAD programs to create models & renderings
- Ability to build physical models and prototypes to bring creative concepts to life
- Ability to work independently and prioritise with good time & project management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
