Tweed Shire Council has a great opportunity for a reliable, experienced Plant Operator Level 2 (Backhoe) to work across the Tweed Shire.

The position is required to operate plant in a safe manner and maintain plant in a serviceable condition for maintenance and civil construction works under the direction of the project supervisor.

When the plant is idle or under repair, this role is required to perform non-driving duties with the Roads and Stormwater Unit.

**We are seeking**:

- literacy and numeracy skills at a level sufficient to enable reading of job instructions, operation and maintenance manuals and to complete work records
- experience and ability to operate and maintain plant in a safe manner
- attention to detail, accuracy and efficiency
- reliable and have a strong commitment to safety
- demonstrated competence in plant maintenance and cleaning procedures
- WorkCover certificates of competency
- WorkCover OHS Induction Training for Construction Work

Essential:

2. Demonstrated competency in relevant civil plant and machinery:
PLANT
Excavator, Backhoe, Grader, Loader
Demonstrated understanding of grades, levels, cross falls and the ability to operate plant to conform to design levels and standard specifications.
CRANES (HR Licence and National High Risk Work Licence)
Crane Truck, Franna Crane
Demonstrated knowledge of load shifting regulations and ability to assess material weights.
TRANSPORT/TRUCK (HR/HC Licence)
Dog Trailer, Low Loader
Jetpatcher
3. Demonstrated competence in plant maintenance and cleaning procedures.
4. Demonstrated communication skills and the capacity to work as a member of a team.
5. Demonstrated competence in preparing and maintaining accurate records within required timeframes, for example - daily run sheets, safety checks and timesheets.
6. General construction Induction Card (White Card).
Desirable:
7. Sound knowledge of Tweed Shire road network.
8. Hold additional National High Risk Work Licences and/or RMS heavy vehicle licence (MR, HR or HC) for other plant and machinery listed in this position description.
9. Demonstrated experience in the operation of one or more additional plant and machinery listed in this position description.
10. Demonstrated recent experience in civil construction e.g. drainage and concrete construction, and earthworks or relevant qualification e.g. Certificate III Construction.
11. Dogman Certificate and relevant National High Risk Work Licence.
