At Metcash, we’re the power behind an independent Australia. For almost 100 years we’ve been proudly supporting local, family-owned businesses - sticking up for the little guys and helping them become the best stores in town. Today we’re Australia and New Zealand’s leading independent retail partner and wholesaler in the food, liquor, and hardware sectors.
In this newly created role, we are looking for a Group Compliance Manager to support the Group Head of Risk and Compliance with the ongoing development and management of Metcash’s Compliance Framework, ensuring that the business is implementing processes and controls to manage its ongoing compliance obligations.
This role will also have responsibility for Metcash’s AML/CTF Program and will act as AML/CTF Compliance Officer and will interact with all levels of management to facilitate value-added change across the Group.
**What you'll do**:
- Develop and manage an integrated approach for Metcash to ensure it is aware of and is effectively managing its compliance obligations.
- Proactively monitor the external environment for regulatory developments and determine impact (if any) on Metcash. Operationalise new compliance obligations with assistance of first line.
- Develop and manage the Group wide Compliance Obligations Register with systems and process for ongoing review.
- Design and implement controls to manage compliance obligations, including (but not limited to) an attestation framework.
- Act as an SME to Pillars and Functions and provide advice on compliance matters to the Management group, including interpretation of compliance obligations, and compliance process design and implementation.
- As required undertake compliance reviews to ensure business areas are effectively meeting compliance obligations.
- Act as the AML/CTF Compliance Officer and be the primary point of contact with relevant regulators.
- Update, maintain and operationalise the AML/CTF Program policies and procedures, including Know-Your-Customer and Transaction Monitoring.
- Deliver general compliance and AML training to relevant employees.
- Conduct periodic reviews of the AML/CTF Program.
- Provide thought leadership to the first line on compliance matters.
- Build, maintain and enhance relations with Pillar and Function heads and their management teams for the smooth implementation of compliance activities across the organization.
- Undertake ad-hoc projects, as requested by Group Head.
- Mentor, coach and develop junior team members and business colleagues.
**What you'll bring**:
- Eight to ten years’ experience in Compliance practice in an ASX wholesale distribution, retail or supply chain business would be desirable, or similar experience in a large complex corporate environment would be beneficial.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in AML compliance, with a thorough understanding of Australian regulatory requirements.
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Law.
- Strong understanding of compliance frameworks and systems, with experience working in a regulated environment.
- Proven leadership skills - ability to influence and motivate others to quickly achieve results.
- Self-confident with an ability to accept and respond to challenges in a positive manner.
- Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills, including workshop facilitation experience.
- Ability to effectively present complex topics in a concise manner.
- Broad understanding of business issues, metrics, organizational linkages and customer value.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to create scenario plans.
**What can we offer you?**
- An extra week of annual leave after your first year as part of our Fifth Week program, and the opportunity to purchase annual leave to help you recharge.
- Flexible, autonomous work environment
- Training opportunities, your personal development is important to us.
- Opportunities for career progression
- Added benefits - Wellbeing days, extra leave days just for you, corporate health benefits and more.
- We’re all about celebrating success, and we’re proud to be a WGEA Employer of Choice for Equity, an accredited Flex Ready workplace, and a Gold Standard Mental Health First Aid skilled workplace._
So, roll up your sleeves and bring your best self to work, and we’ll give you the support you need to develop a rewarding career and make your mark on the future of retail.
